Girls Soccer Fall In Section Semi-Finals To Elk River

The Moorhead Girls Soccer Team fell to Elk River in the Section 8 Playoffs Monday in Rogers 1-0. Sammy Jacobsen made saves on 15 or 16 Elk River shots giving the Spuds a chance to draw even throughout the match. The Spuds finish the season 6-10-1.

Girls Soccer Defeat St. Michael 5-2 In Section Quarter Final Match

Girls Soccer Team Gets Victory Over Fergus Falls

The Spuds were led by Jenessa Haasbeek's hat-trick as Moorhead defeated Fergus Falls 5-0 in girls soccer Friday at Horizon Middle School in Moorhead. Chelsea Klemetson tallied a goal and two assists for Moorhead now 5-8-1 on the season.

Spud Girls Soccer Get Victory Over Crookston

The Moorhead Girls defeated Crookston 2-0 Tuesday at the Horizon Middle School Field in Moorhead. Morgan Nyquist and Ashley Heinze picked up the goals for the Spuds and goalie Callie Roseland made 6 six saves picking up the shutout. Moorhead is now 4-8-1 on the season and will take on Fergus Fall at home on Friday, October 9 at 5:00 p.m. for their last regular season home match.

Girls Soccer Falls To EGF In 2 Overtimes

The Greenwave scored in the second overtime to defeat Moorhead 4-3. East Grand Forks remains undefeated on the season and the Spuds are now 3-7-1 on the year. Ashley Heinze scored two goals and Janessa Haasbeek scored for the Spuds who will take on Alexandria at home on Friday, Oct. 1 at 5:00 p.m.

Girls Soccer Shuts Out Detroit Lakes

The Spuds got off to a hot start against the Lakers on Thursday, pulling off a 7-0 shutout at home. Junior Hannah Hoium quickly gave Moorhead a 1-0 lead, with a goal by Chelsea Klemetson soon after. Janessa Haasbeek then scored two consecutive goals to give Moorhead a 4-0 lead heading into the half. Second half goals by Natalie Huckle, Ashley Heinze, and Morgan Holm capped off a 7-0 home win to improve their record to 3-6-1. A big part of that shutout victory can be traced back to preparation. "Our last practice was really intense," said Klemetson. Ashley Heinze also noted that the team spent time focusing on shooting, passing, and communication. When asked about keeping this momentum going, Klemetson added "we have to keep up the hard work and not get lazy. Not get cocky about our 7-0 win." The Spuds travel to East Grand Forks on Monday. Moorhead lost 1-2 in overtime the last time the two teams met. Junior Ashley Heinze didn't make a prediction, but did comment about some much wanted "revenge."

Spud Girls Soccer Falls To Apollo

Missy Setter had a goal for Moorhead from a feed by Ashley Heinze. The Spuds fall to 2-6-1 on the season and will take on Bemidji, Tuesday, September 22 at 5:00 p.m. at the Moorhead Middle School Field.

Girls Soccer Fall 2-1 In OT Against East Grand Forks

The Spuds comeback fell short Thursday against the East Grand Forks Greenwave after Jenessa Haasbeek scored at the 77:00 minute mark tying the game 1-1 against the undefeated EGF team which is now 8-0 on the season. The Spuds are now 2-4-1 on the season and will take on St. Cloud Apollo on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1:00 p.m.

FIRST HALF: no scoring.

SECOND HALF: 1, EGF, Brooke Greenwood (Anna Hulteng), 67:00. 2, M, Janessa Haasbeek, 77:00.

Spud Girls Soccer Team Tie Buffalo and Fall To Tech

The Moorhead Girls had a busy day on Saturday as they played two matches against Buffalo and St. Cloud Tech. In the first match against Buffalo the Spuds battled to a 2-2 tie. Moorhead' Janessa Haasbeek and Chelsea Klemetson both had goals. In the second match Kate Braun of St. Cloud Tech scored a goal on a penalty kick with only 2 seconds left on the clock to give Tech the victory. Moorhead Junior Forward, Ashley Heinze and Sophomore Morgan Nyquist both had goals for the Spuds. The Spuds are now 2-3-1 on the season and will take on East Grand Forks on Septemeber 17 at 5:00 p.m. at the Horizon Middle School Field.

Girls Soccer Defeat Crookston 4-2

Ashley Heinz scored a goal and one assist and Hannah Hoium had two assists. Chelsea Klemetson, Natalie Huckle and Bijanca Clark each scored goals for Moorhead which improves their record to 2-2 on the season. The Spuds will take on St. Michael on Friday, Sept. 11 in Moorhead at 7:30 p.m.

Spud Girls Soccer Top Bemidji 4-2

The Moorhead Girls went on the road searching for that first victory and got it against the Lumberjacks 4-2. Janessa Haasbeek scored two goals while Ashley Heinze and Natalie Huckle each added a goal apiece. The Spuds are 1-2 on the season and will take on Crookston September 8 at 6:00 p.m. in Moorhead.

Eagan Tops Spud Girls

The Moorhead Girls Soccer Team concluded their Twin Cities area road trip with a match against Eagan and being defeated 9-0. The Spuds will look to rebound Tuesday, September 1 on the road against Bemidji.

Girls Soccer Fall In Season Opener Against Anoka

The Moorhead Girls Soccer Team played on the road in Anoka falling by a score of 6-0 in the season opener. The Spuds played Eagan on Saturday at 1 p.m. Watch for more details coming soon.
