Boys Soccer Falls To Elk River In Section Final

The Moorhead Boys Soccer Team had everything rolling going into Friday nights match with Elk River played in St Cloud. The Spuds had won 10 straight matches and were 13-1-1 since September 5 scoring 59 goals during that stretch. Elk River proved to the be the streak breaker as the game went scoreless for 57 minutes until Elk River's Ryan Ness scored on a shot that hit the post and snuck into the net. The Spuds had a great year and ended 13-5-2 for the season.

FIRST HALF: No scoring.

Boys Soccer Comes Up BIG With Shoot-Out Win - Move To Section Final Match Friday

The Moorhead Boys Soccer Team is heading to the Section Championship Match against Elk River on Friday thanks to a 2-1 shoot-out victory over Fergus Falls Monday in Fergus Falls. Wes Anderson of the Spuds scored at 58:04 in the second half on a feed from Jacob Baltes making it 1-0 Moorhead. Fergus Falls scored late in the second half to tie the game 1-1 and force overtime but the match couldn't be resolved until a shoot-out where the Spuds scored 4 times on goals by Anderson, Michael Golling, Taylor Colby and Noah Julin to seal the victory. Moorhead is now 13-4-2 on the season. The Section Final will start at 5:30 p.m. in St. Cloud Friday.

Boys Soccer Defeats Brainerd 5-2

Moorhead continues their strong play as the Spuds took a 3-0 lead in the first half against MN Section rival Brainerd and never relinquished that lead. Noah Julin had two goals in the match and Nathan Hakk, Ryan Trygg and Wes Anderson had a goal each. This was the Spuds last regular season home match improving to 10-4-2 on the season. The Spuds travel to Bemidji on Saturday for their last regular season match before the playoffs begin.

Boys Soccer Defeat St. Cloud Tech and St. John Prep

The Moorhead Boys Soccer team continued their hot streak over the weekend winning two matches at the St. Cloud Soccer Invitational. The first match featured a 2-0 shutout by the Spuds over St. Cloud Tech as Taylor Colby and Michael Golling scored a goal each and goalie Joe Seaver picked up the shutout making 4 saves.

FIRST HALF: 1, M, Colby (Golling), 3:59.

SECOND HALF: 2, M, Golling (Julin), 73:57.

Taylor Colby added a goal and an assist in the second match versus St. John Prep and the Spuds went on to win 4-1 and improve their record to 9-4-2 on the season including 6 straight wins and a 9-1-1 record in their last 11 matches. Moorhead will play their last home match before the playoffs begin Thursday, October 8 at 5:00 p.m. at Horizon Middle School.

Boys Soccer Defeat Bemidji 8-0

The Moorhead Boys Soccer team continued their hot streak with an 8-0 victory over Section foe Bemidji. Taylor Colby had two goals and the Spuds had six different players also add goals in the match. The Spuds are now 7-1-1 in their last nine matches and have outscored their opposition 32 to 6 over that stretch with 4 shutouts. The Spuds face St. Cloud Tech on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Cloud.

Boys Soccer Scores 6 Goals Against Fargo North

The Spuds won their third straight on Saturday, beating the Fargo North Spartans 6-0. Junior Noah Julin got off to a hot start, scoring the game's first two goals. Taylor Colby added another first half goal, giving Moohead a huge three goal advantage going into halftime. And the offense was just as good in the second half, as senior Wes Anderson scored two consecutive goals, followed by a last minute score by Julin. The defense proved to be very tough as well. Keeper Joe Seaver and the rest of the Spud's defense held North to a shutout, with only one goal allowed over the current three game win streak. The Spuds next game will be at home against Bemidji on Tuesday, September 29.

Boys Soccer Defeats Grand Forks Red River 5-1

Wes Anderson had two goals and an assist and Noah Julin added two goals and an assist as the Spuds defeated Grand Forks Red River Monday night in Grand Forks. The Spuds are now 5-4-2 on the season and will next play Fargo North, Saturday, September 26 at home at the Moorhead Middle School field 1:00 p.m.

Boys Soccer Team Victorious Over Apollo 4-0

Taylor Colby had two goals and Wes Anderson and Michael Golling each had a goal in the Spuds victory over St. Cloud Apollo Saturday in the Section play. Joe Seaver had four saves as the Spuds improve to 4-4-2 on the season. Moorhead will take on Grand Forks Red River, Monday, September 21 in Grand Forks.

Boys Soccer Battle To 2-2 Tie With Fargo South

Wesley Anderson scored the tying goal at the 75 minute mark to help the Spuds to a 2-2 tie with undefeated Fargo South (9-0-2) Thursday at the South Soccer Field. The Spuds are 3-4-2 on the season and will next play St. Cloud Apollo at home on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1:00 p.m.

Spud Boys Soccer Defeat East Grand Forks 3-0

The Moorhead Boys Soccer team gained a victory Tuesday against East Grand Forks improving to 3-4-1 on the season. Wes Anderson scored a goal and had an assist as Taylor Coldy and Michael Golling each scored a goal for the Spuds. The next game up will be against cross town rival Fargo South, Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 p.m.

SECOND HALF: 2, M, Anderson, 63:00. 3, M, Golling (Anderson) 76:59.

Boy's Soccer Holds Off Alexandria Gets Victory 2-1


Moorhead takes home a win in a close one, beating Alexandria 2-1. Junior Noah Julin scored the game's first goal, giving the Spuds an early edge. Julin soon after scored an assist, as senior Wes Anderson punched in a close one to give Moorhead a two goal lead.
Alexandria made things interesting after scoring in the second half, but the Spuds held on with some tough, smart defense. Moorhead improved their record to 2-3-1, and will have another big test as they host Maple Grove on Saturday.
