Roseau Wins Minnesota State Championship 5-1 Over Grand Rapids
3-10-07 - Xcel Energy Center - St. Paul, MN
Roseau continued to show why they were able to defeat Moorhead in the Section Championship game last week as they played stifling defense and opportunistic offense in their 5-1 victory over Grand Rapids in front of 17,567 fans in the Xcel Energy Center Saturday night. The Rams never let Grand Rapids have many serious quality scoring chances and Grand Rapids stars Pat White and Joe Stejskal were not factors and Roseau sophomore Mike Lee was more than solid in net again making 28 or 29 stops. Roseau' Sam Carr got the puck to Ben Johnson who fired a shot on net and GR goalie Reider Jensen let a long rebound come out from the net that was snatched by Ryan Larsen who scored the first goal for Roseau. In the second period Roseau again scored on a two on one break out as Ryan Weston feed Ben Johnson who stretched to grab the puck and then went five hole to make it 2-0. That would prove to be all the Rams needed to claim the State Title in Minnesota 2A. Roseau finishes the year 28-2 and claims their seventh Championship. Congratulations to Section 8 Roseau...
